The Ultimate Approach For Practice Owners To Offer In-House Orthodontic Services
The Truth Behind Dentistry
Harvard Orthodontist Dr. Ingrid Murra takes on the dental industry by creating a platform called TwoFront. For years we have pointed out that the operational cost and bandwidth burden for managing In-House Orthodontics is taxing for dental offices, and the ideal approach has been "decentralizing". This modality is a much better alternative for patients from the perspective of continuity of care. For example, being seen by an orthodontist at their general dentist's practice can lead to a disconnect entirely out of the patient's control. In-house Orthodontists are independent contractors at these practices, not W2 "employees." Hence either party can disconnect without being held responsible for finishing the Ortho case. From the office's perspective on a reputation management level, having to explain to a patient's parent that their child's treatment is delayed due to the Orthodontist no longer working at their office is very difficult.
Meanwhile, the patient had paid for the case in advance, and the office now risks an online reputation disaster. Our recommendation for office owners and patients is to contact TwoFront. They are an Orthodontist lead clinical team working out "tenant/landlord" arrangements with the offices, avoiding unforeseen disconnects and jeopardizing patient care.
Disclosure: Darius Somekhian is an advisor for TwoFront. For the reasons mentioned above, we believe that Orthodontic care should be doctor driven and "decentralized" to deliver the best experience.
