The Truth Behind Dentistry

Meet "The Stress Free Dentist" Dr. Eric Block. Once upon a time, Dr. Block was in a dark place with the immense stress of private practice ownership taking its toll. The straw was about to break the camels back before Dr. Block had an epiphany that totally changed the way he viewed going about clinical private practice and managing all the stress around it all. A few years ago, I was in a very dark place. I was questioning my place in the profession. I had major anxiety, regret, despair, mental and physical exhaustion.

However, I took action through making changes at work, years of therapy, finding the right combination of prescribed medications, exercise, peer engagement, and other stress relievers. I now enjoy going to work every day and taking care of my patients.

Dr. Eric Block is a full-time practicing dentist in Acton, MA. He is passionate about mental health and stress management in dentistry. By sharing his story in The Stress-Free Dentist, Dr. Block hopes to create a community where like-minded dentists can share their stories, struggles, and strategies for coping with burnout, depression and ultimately be able to reduce stress and anxiety.

When he’s not taking care of patients or writing books, you can find Dr. Block practicing what he preaches--self-care and movement. For Dr. Block, playing tennis and practicing yoga have helped tremendously with his physical and mental health. He also soaks up as much time with his family as possible--his wife, Sooann; daughter, Charlotte; and son, Axel.
